I’m excited to share with you a few things that have been going on recently...
Rcrdlbl.com was so kind to release a song that I wrote and recorded a year ago with one of my most favorite artists, Peter Barbee aka Among Savages! You can find that here.
The song is called, “When I Am Alone” and is ultimately about my invisible friend that I had as a kid, Clarence, who I thought I saw again as an adult. So it’s a good Halloween themed song I guess? Totally not intentional, but it works. Anyway, I really love this song and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. AJ Gibboney, one of Nashville’s finest videographers, created the artwork for the single out of some film footage he shot of us last year!
A little history on my collaboration with Among Savages:
Neither Peter nor I had done much co-writing before, but we thought it would be fun to see what happens. We ended up writing and demoing 11 songs in less than 2 weeks. I can’t begin to express how happy I am to finally start putting these songs out there for you to hear. Peter is beyond talented and I am lucky to have gotten to work with him.

"The stories that Prass is drawn to are those that are gravelly and poisoned. They are those with scabs, those that have gone belly-up or are looking peaked. They are hurting some, but they carry a sense of being somewhat aged, not all that fresh any longer. They might not be hurting as much any more. The people could be rebounding a little from the initial slashing. She sings, "I think of what I live without," and you get the feeling that knowing what all those things are might be comforting. It could bring on the hurt, but more likely, it's knowing all of this that makes them feel stronger. It's like knowing how to live and to survive on little money that gives a person the steeled outlook of never having to worry again about money. These are the stories that might make you never worry about love again. These whispery takes on the snags that people find themselves in are exquisite examples of rainy beauty. They make you believe that everything is as it is for a reason. Prass sings, "There's nothing to say, when there's nothing to say." It's that simple. It's what we're all left with, when things simmer."

Me and the c&c music factory: @chandlerfinchkellogg @chrispayne_I had so much fun in Grand Rapids last night! Thanks to everyone who sat under umbrellas to watch us play and bought wet and soggy merch. We're in Canada now, getting ready to play at The Phoenix with Grace Potter & The Nocturnals.
After these shows, I'll be playing a couple of dates backing up the amazing Benny Yurco, and then I'm heading into the studioooooo. Been writing a bunch and can't wait to get these tunes out into the world, which will hopefully be sometime in the next couple of months.
In September, I'll be up in VT to play the Grand Point North Afterparty at Nectars, and then I'll probably get back to recording. BUT, I do have a show booked in Nashville for December 1st at The Basement! I know. That seems so far away. But mark your calendars, it'll be here before you know it, and I'm gonna make it a special night.
